February 2025: We’re back in Ethiopia

By Marie VD,

We spent our first field day in a beautiful village with lush vegetation South of Jinka, Ethiopia. As we walked between huts (some were very long walks) we were greeted with joyfulness by believers who were grateful we had come.

My team’s last home of the day was owned by a young mother, “M.” Her husband was working far away and she was too afraid to invite anyone so we just visited with her while children gathered in the distance and watched us.

At the end of our visit we asked how we could pray for her. “M” shared that ever since building and moving into their house, about 3 years ago, she and her husband have had bad dreams every night. She also shared that strong winds have blown through her house. Thinking it was possessed, friends and a witch doctor advised them to destroy the house.

We shared that God has given us power over Satan. She agreed to let us pray so we all went inside to pray over her home. In the name and power of Jesus, we demanded Satan to leave and asked God to fill her home instead.

Teams in the past have prayed over sick villagers and either seen them healed immediately or learned about their healing on a future trip. Would you pray for “M” that Satan would be completely cast out of her house and that “M’s” faith would grow as a result?

The photo is of her smaller round (kitchen) hut and the larger stick building is the house we prayed over. Typically these houses are a work in progress and eventually are covered in mud and painted.

February 2025: Full Armor of God

By Dan M.

We arrived in the city of Jinka in southern Ethiopia after 19 hours of flying and 10 hours waiting in airports. During our 29 hours of travel, I felt the Lord telling me to memorize Ephesus 6:10-13 in preparation for sharing the Gospel with Ethiopian families in their homes:

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces in the heavenly realm. Therefore, put on the full armor of God…”

On Friday, our 6 member team met 20 people in the 1st village. We visited outside sitting in front of one of the hut homes in the shade. I shared the gospel using the “Two Kingdom” presentation.

Wonderfully, 4 young men stepped forward and wanted to invite Christ into their lives. They tore off beaded bracelets on their wrists and necks representing previous connections with witchcraft leaders!

“Be strong in the Lord… Put on the full armor of God!… our struggles is not against flesh and blood…”
